Wow. He was stunning.
He's not an Orpington, orps have a single comb, but he could have had orp somewhere in his lineage as he looks like he was a big boy. If you could find a reputable English Orpington breeder, I have found they make wonderful roosters and most have a low crow that doesn't carry far. They take good care of their ladies and love their humans.

Sandhill sells white Chantecler. They have a cushion comb. Not sure what they look like when they are a few years old, but the comb made me think of the Chantecler.

There's no points on that comb--was he always like that, or did he lose them to frostbite? (Helps figure out what comb type, which can help at guessing breed.)

He was gorgeous! Sorry you lost him, poor guy
Thank you. I know. I'm so sorry for him! I have a whole "bad boy pen" filled with terrible little jerks that will probably live forever. As they say, the good die young. (Although "young" he wasn't really, but...)

So sorry!
If he came from Sandhill, see if they can ID him from your photo. He was beautiful!

Good idea! Thank you. (Although I'm not actually 100% on him being from Sandhill. Wouldn't hurt to ask I suppose.)
