Anybody tap their trees and make syrup??

I have wanted to try this for some time.I have lots of trees and several nice maples right at the house.I noticed today that the maples we trimmed before all the snow are dripping like crazy.I got online and did some looking at how to and what was needed.I found out you can tap beech and walnut,also.I just want to try the maples.They are either red or sugar maples.I know I need 10 gallons sap to make 1 quart syrup.I'm sure we can do that.I just wondered if I could get some first hand tips and maybe ask more questions?Thanks,

My grandpa taps the birch around his house but he just drinkks it instead of making syrup it is really good
