Anybody tat?

I tried tatting a few times but after my darling hubby came in one time and literally had to sit down he was laughing at me so hard then had the nerve to tell me I looked like a deranged spider on PCP, I gave that particular handcraft up. Which was probably a good thing since I could barely make it past the basic knotting process. Now if I need handmade lace I pick up my steel crochet hook and do it that way. Considerably less hazardous for the hubby

Well, I have a few tats, but when I saw this thread I thought of tatting .... my brain used to was Harley, now it is fuzzy with fiber!!

I've done some needle tatting, haven't learned shuttle tatting yet. Don't know if I will.

Tatting seems so unforgiving. I mean, it is making knots after all and if you mess up, you can't really take it apart too easily!!

I only know shuttle tatting- I just ordered a book for needle tatting with a bunch of patterns. Wish me luck!

Boy does it suck when you have to undo knots.

When I saw the thread name I thought of tatting w/ shuttle and thread, but I do not tat. I do crochet, but was never able to learn to tat, even though an elderly lady tried hard to teach me. I also was never able to learn to knit. Tatting is a dying art and I hope those that can do it keep it alive.

Oh, I still have the shuttle and the needles and will probably try again some day (when the hubby is out of town either on business or a fishing trip). I do just about every other needlecraft out there including candlewicking so figure tatting will eventually wind up on the list.

Irish crochet is nice and when I'm in the groove I can churn out yards of lace in no time. I usually go for the smallest hook and thread possible so I wind up with some really delicate work. Helps keep my fingers limber during the winter months.

I tat - on occasion. I haven't been able to get to it for a while. Things seem to come up.

I have never seen a tatting pattern for a chicken, however if you go to www.bellaonline.com and then go to "Hobbies and Crafts" in the list on the left side, and then "Tatting" there are alot of free patterns or links to patterns.
