Anybody use DE in carpet?

Arrrgh Bad flea probs in Florida this year! I have used DE twice now on my carpets and everything else remotely fluffy including the dog and her bed ( got some relief from it) ......but nothing else works!!!! have to try the Comfortis...do you need a vet perscription for that stuff? so far we spent over $200 on flea treatments to no avail

Thanks for all the replies. That Comfortis is the best, works especially well for one of my dogs that is allergic to fleas, now has all of his hair back. I wish they had the equilivant for cats. Think I'll try Borax first. Wish me luck.

If you have bad fleas in the house, i would use REAL chemicals to get rid of them... DE really sucks.
Just my opinion.. i cant stand fleas jumping on me... *scratch..scratch..*

I wouldn't be comfy at all using DE in the house for a couple of reasons. Full protective gear is recommended even when using it outside, no less exposure inside where the particles can be airborn and inhaled or other. There's really no way to get rid of fleas short of treating the animals, covering dishes & food stuffs, and setting off bombs at the recommended times and washing everything.

I feel for you...I had a newborn (human) baby when my young son, bless his heart, brought home (unknown to me at that moment) an abandoned flea infested kitten for me to save and brought it inside for only a few minutes before I was even aware and then moved the kitten outside and made a vet appt for him...well, within several days we were infested, with an ill newborn baby an mom in the house. What a total nightmare the next couple of weeks were.

There's really no "natural" way to rid a house or animals of fleas. Hoping you're able to find a solution that works out for you.

Several years ago my sis in law brought a dog with her from FL. Needless to say she also brought some of the toughest fleas on the planet into my home. I was fully infested within 2 weeks. In CO we do NOT get fleas, at least that has been my experience as a native of CO.
We spent over 2000 dollars trying to get rid of them. Poor cats and my old dogs were miserable. The vet gave us some dips to use, SOOO everyone got dipped and the house got BOMBED. We BOMBED the house every week for 3 months to get rid of the ----ing fleas. I NEVER want to see another flea in my life. NO PICS either.
Powers did nothing, carpet sprinkles for fleas did nothing, flea shampoos-nothing, flea powders also nothing, flea treatments like K-9 advantix helped a little. BOMBING, BOMBING and more BOMBING.
It was the worst thing on the planet to deal with IMO.

I didn't need a presription to get Comfortis, but around here, it's only available at the vet's office.

Yep...thats what they are down here......90% of my home is tile floors and they still survive! I cant bomb as we have fish tanks.​

I have a 55 gallon, a 44 gallon, a 29 gallon and a 20 gallon.
I unplugged everything and put plastic trash bags on the top taping it tight to the sides. I did not lose one single fish. The 55 gallon had to have 3 bags taped together to cover it but it worked.

We had a bad infestation at the beginning of the summer, but we went on a major offensive attack. We bought stuff that attaches to the water hose and treated the yard every two weeks 3 times, while at same time using only DE in the house in the carpets, and dusting on the dogs as well as thier beds and crates. They were erraticated in less than 2 weeks, but we kept it up for 3 just to be safe. Great Danes and fleas are not a good mix.
