Howdy!! I have a question...
I am in the process of a hatch and my new baby chicks are pooping a neon green poo...
I have had several hatches and never have I seen this color!!
Could it be salmonella? something else?
anybody??

All of mine I've hatched have had that. Might be a difference in the feed the hens had. All of ours have been free-ranging, so I assumed it was something from the grass the mama hens ate before they laid the eggs. They've all been fine. It was usually just the first poo or two.

Good luck and hope all is well.

Okay now down to business... Your bird is starving... that is my very best guess... My guess is he/she is emaciated and that is what the poop comes out like. I am going with sick bird that is NOT eating. Is he/she on medicated chick feed... she should be and then I would give antibiotics in the water (no vitamins at this time)

New baby chicks often have green poo .... don't worry about it. It will only be the first day or two, then should be okay.

My clue is they might look like they're eating, but may not be . I grind the chick feed down , even the crumbles are too big for alot of them.

These are NEW baby chicks ... right? They don't have to eat the first couple days, as they are absorbing the yolk. Really, it is normal!

Thanks you guys.
Yes these are as new as they come

I also crumble the crumble, because it is to big.
Thay all seem fine...I just do not recall ever seeing it so neon! I was feeding the hens a LOT of greenery from the garden when they were all mating for this hatch.

Thanks a ton!!
