Beekeepers worry about bearproofing probably as much as anyone. I mean what do bears stereotypically love more than *honey*?
Apparently bears can destroy many many hives in just minutes, and often do.
The bee folks use well-visible electric fence, running at REALLY HIGH VOLTAGE (I would have to look it up, but IIRC they stipulate you need like 7-8,000v, which is about twice the zap needed for doglike predators and about 3-4x what you need to contain horses or cattle), set as far back from the hives (or in this case, coop) as is practical. The latter is because the closer the bear can get to the temptation, the stronger the temptation is.
