How did your hatch end up going?

You saw it, lol. Just the one. Still have the others in the bator, but going to check them and chunk them tonight  I bought the cuckoo Marans chicks so she wouldn't be alone.

One of our favorite hens is cuckooMaran/Buff Orp mix.

They seem to be getting along. One had pasty butt and didn't make it. I should've checked them before bringing them home.

What you have done looks really good!

This one is hard on me. The ground drops Right to left in a hurry and if that isn't enough, front to back. Keeping things straight,plumb and level, is about mind numbing for a weekend warrior. sheesh..oh well, onward and upward.

Hi! Ok this is all new to me and you're scenario seems closest to my situation and question(s). I currently have our mama hen and her two chicks in the rabbit hutch we built which I have in the coop. They are only 4 days old and so far so good but I need to move them to something bigger soon...https://www.farmstore.com/product/p...n-pen-for-the-old-red-barn-ii-chicken-coop-2/ I was going to buy this and simply put it in the coop (which is a barn and outside are all netted). So they have more room but are still in the coop - I love your idea as the chicks have been "interacting" with the big girls since day one. Then 1) what do you think of this transition brooder 2) does Mom stay in the brooder (the link) when I transition 3) Do I transition later this week when they're going on 2 weeks old 4) when does the last step happen - do they literally live in the brooder until they're 4 weeks with feathers? Won't the mom get tired of all of it? Thank you!

I only have experience with chicks in their own box or a mom and her chicks in their own space. Maybe Drumstickdivia or Art or Sourland can help more. Seek them out.

Just home with my 12 eggs (but he gave me another 12 free ) so have 17 Cream legbar, 4 marans and 3 vorwerks oh oh oh dear! I'm pretty sure I can only fit 9 under each silkie so need to work out which 6 I'll just eat

Can someone tell me if I should be resting my eggs on the side or pointy end down????? I thought it was side and that is what I did with the last few hatches but then read that it should be pointy down confusion abounds!

LOL and I ended up putting the extra extra 6 in the incubator so waaaaay too many chicks
