Anyone else being invaded by the asian lady beetles??????

We've got both stink bugs and I saw a few ladybugs here just today. I have felt the bite of a ladybug and am sure glad I never ate one!

When I lived in Iowa we had hordes of lighter colored lady bugs. I thought, "Oh cool!" Until one of the little monsters bit me! Hey lady bugs aren't supposed to do that. Plus they kept forming large groups in the corner of my living room.

My then three year old daughter didn't mind their bites. She kept stuffing the lady bugs along with caterpillers and grasshoppers inside her pockets. That made washing her clothing fun.

you should be letting the chickens free range when these beetles are out and about...

Great source of protein!

We saw the 1st few yesterday which means that ...'They're baaaaack'

We have an older home with lots of little cracks and crevices for them to get into. It gets so bad that I keep the vaccuum out and have to suck them off the ceilings and out of the windows 3 or 4 times daily. We also empty the light fixtures as their little burnt bodies collect in there by the hundreds.

Some days we cant go outside because they are so thick that if you arent careful you get them in your mouth and nose. No joke....gross.

I used to love ladybugs, now....

They bite and they smell! When you squish them or scare them, they emit a nasty smell...gag!

Mahonri....my chickens wont eat them. Even the ducks pass them up!

Maybe its that nasty smell/taste when they die?

Here to. Was trying to clean cages and brooder box and what a pain they were. They only place safe was in the house or walking down the road to dump shavings. There were only a few at the coops and my birds won't eat them either. I had some fun by spraying them out of the air with the garden hose. Today is going to be even warmer so will probably see more. I did notice when looking at the ones that had landed on me there seems to be several diffrent kinds. Some were the usual orange, but there were some really red ones in the mix.
