Anyone else being invaded by the asian lady beetles??????

We got them by the gabillions! I mean gabillions! This is the worst I ever saw! I was trying to bring in firewood yesterday and had to quit. They were up in my eyes and yes they were biting me all over the place! Usually they just invade the west side of the house, this year they are on every side of it.

I aint never seen it this bad!

We also get them in the fall. I haven't seen them yet but I'm sure they'll be here soon enough. When we replaced our house siding there were millions of them behind the siding when we took it down. It was totally creepy.

I heard they were imported here from China to eat dust and to help with allergies. I don't know about you but I prefer the dust.

The dreaded orange lady bug invasion! I long for the days when all we had to worry about was the sweet little red ones that tickled when they crawled across your hand. These round, orange, stinky, biting lady bugs are nasty creatures. This is just another case of importing a species to help with xy and z gone bad.

Yep. I am originally from the south, but I lived in Iowa for three years. When I first saw the orange lady bugs I thought, how cute. Um...no. They bite.

But if I had a choice between the fire ants in the south and the mutant lady bugs in Iowa, I would choose the mutant lady bugs. The bite of a fire ant hurts more.

When you talk about these little things everyone thinks they are ladybugs and wonder why we get so frustrated with them. Well they are not ladybugs and like others have said they stink, bite and are everywhere. To me it just as bad as when we have the cicada swarms. LOL I hope we have a few more years before we have to worry about another one of those.

I agree with you there. I'll take an asian beetle bite over a fire ant bite anyday.

We've been invaded! Not surprising, though, because they're harvesting soybeans right behind us, and these bugs were brought in to eat soybean aphids, which were overabundant this year. Those "dirty, rotten farmers"

took away the asian beetles home and now they're orphans trying to find room in MY HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!
(WE sweep them up with our Electrolux.)

Except for when they invade a corner inside your house. I am not certain what would have been worse, the asian lady bugs or chickens running nuts inside my home.

We've got the lady beetles, and now the box elder bugs. The last 3-4 day heat wave up here in michigan seems to have started a hatch. I use the small shop vac to get all the fools who cling to the windows and door frames.
