Hello, this is my first post. Had a discovery today. I have a small backyard flock here at my home in Fort Worth, Texas. We live in a hilly part of town that has very rocky terrain and part of our backyard fence was lined with natural rock that had been excavated for the build plot of our home. Inbetween the rocks we have this tall grass that grows which I left growing since, IMO, it makes nice ornamentals. I'm glad I didn't take the weed-whacker to it because it produces these nice seedheads that I've collected to attempt to feed to my girls. To my surprise and excitement they seem to love it.
I immediately started to assume that I couldn't be the first one to discover this natural wild treat for my hens. I'm wondering if anyone else does this, has tried it, or has any comments about it. These seeds are easily removed by hand and collected the girls are going to town on it. My RIRs and BOs especially like it.
