anyone else get upset when you see low quality

At our state fair this year, there were alot of DQs on the bird qualities, it's gonna happen, there are winners and losers in everything. But calling even the DQ'ed birds JUNK is what started this whole thread (which turned out to be lenghtier than I thought it would ). The shows at the fairs are supposed to be the kids showing their stock that they raised and have pride in, even if it had three legs I'd tell the kid "Nice Bird" , win or lose. And if my kids wanna show a donkey in the chicken nationals, I'll let 'em.

So you pay for 25 white wyandotte chicks and they send you single combed chicks that have real long legs with black streaks in some of the feathers.........nice birds? & U say nothing to the hatchery but, nice birds..........thank you. Some how I don't believe this, sorry.

So after your kid puts in all his time grooming, training your donkey only to get DQed at the Nationals, this is a good thing? I have to wonder why a parent wouldn't explain that a donkey doesn't belong in a chicken show.

Maybe things are different in Indiana??

Sounds like alot of upset parents on here. I've never been to a chicken show. . . but dont they have standards and rules for a reason. And dont they let the kids and parents no be4 they inter?

I want to know if this is a kid show or the real thing cus I'm trying to learn about chickens, and I want to pick up some good hens.
