Anyone else go to Ohio National??

Yolonda,
I'm afraid you wouldn't have fit in the car between my hubby, two dogs and five chickens I got at the show! Hopefully, I will see lyou at Connorsville!

I was there, I hung out at the Marans booth and some at the Serama booth. I have Marans and my friend has seramas. I bought him his frist seramas and then he found their club on line and joined. I joined the Marans club some time ago and I finally got to meet Bev at this past show. I met Jerry last year. It was nice to have met them both. I spent alot of time with Bev, it was alot fun and very inforamative to have her answer all of my questions.

I love going to the nationals, I think we should set up a BYC booth sometime there. I always read where so and so was there, but I never get to meet anyone.

Nupin I think you should start getting into callducks, forget about those sister-terrorizing cochins!

I made the big show and somehow managed to miss running into Ms. Lewis Rich who I have yet to meet..I was starting to think she doesnt really exisist until I got some BC eggs from her today...by the way thank you. I think I ran into everybody including Bev, Dick, the always super nice Yolanda, and even a pair of canadians looking to buy Butterscotch Calls...but no Ms. Lewis Rich.

I thought you had some pretty sweet pastels at the show Foxhollow, I dont think the competition will get much tougher than what you were up against at the Nationals. I would love to get a pastel hen or two from you to go with my drake...

And somehow I managed to get lucky and get BV in Butterscotch..I bought some large wyandottes and a few calls..sold a bunch of calls, but overall I was kinda disapointed in the call ducks that were for sale.

I went! My friend and I had the BEST time! I bought a pair of Favs from a lady who was showing, and a pair of calls, indies, mandrin trio, and japs. Boy did my car stink coming home!!!!

We went and showed and are happy to say our Chanteler won Best of the Breed and our bantam black cochin came in 5th. It was a first for us and an experience. I have never saw so many birds! How do you find out when the next shows are and where they will be?

I'm an old fuddy duddy. We went on Saturday and I was miserable. I went to get some older pullets and the sales area was SO CRAMPED and crowded that I nearly left within the first hour. (I'm a tad bit claustrophobic...so it was pretty bad)

Walked around a bit more and didn't find many breeds that were on my "short list". I wanted to go home with 6 pullets. (and NO roos!) And it was important to me that they all come from the same farm as I only have one coop. Found a pair of Sussex and the only other birds he had were 2 pair of barred rock banties. He was willing to sell me a trio of the BR and the pair of Sussex.

Thankfully, they are all doing well. Was worried because we had some sneezing and my sussex roo was acting lethargic. But now he's crowing right along with the banty roo. I was worried about having 2 roos, but so far it's working out pretty well.

I'll probably never go back to the Ohio National, just because it was far too big and crowded for me. But I can see where it would be an awesome experience for folks who don't have "crowd issues".

So, when is the show in Connersville?? That's a lot closer for me and I need a few more ladies. Hopefully I'll have enough time to finish a second small coop in my barn!!
