Six hours and nothing new. Good thing AussieSharon (aka my chickies grandma) just warned me that it can take 24 hours from pip to chick and not to be worried if nothing happens for a while, otherwise I would have been posting in a panic!
We are finally getting some action. Still nothing on the other 2 eggs, but the little pip has gotten larger and we can see the little chick pushing on the membrane. My 4yo is getting a kick out of having the chick peep when he makes kissy noises at it. This is starting to feel like my second labour--all 75 hours of it!
So it has been over 24 hours, and still no chicks. The first egg to pip has a pinky-nail sized hole in the shell (on the side, about 1/3 way down from the narrow tip
) and there is a split in the membrane that he breathes through, but hasn*t done anything but cheep and wiggle his beak through (just a tiny bit) in 12+ hours.
Egg #2 pipped about 12hrs ago, and is now starting to peep and wiggle some little egg bits.
