Anyone else have a Omlet up & go?

Thanks thanks thanks, it was a doubt that I could not get out of my head.
Unfortunately here in Italy there is no big Eglu market, I did some research without positive results. Craftsmanship works a lot: D
Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

Have you got the wheels on your go up? I would move it daily/every second day if practical. I have a go, but just the hutch part as I got it for a broody coop. I really like it but it is expensive for what it is. I would only be comfortable with two of my big heritage girls in there and if my rooster decided to live there nobody else would fit!

Hello,

I have an eglu go (not the up) and run and so far I love it. Very easy to clean. I have 3 orpingtons and they fit just fine. Yes, they are expensive but the price didn't bother me. I like it better than any of the wood coops I have had in the past.

Back to your question though, In the eglu run I use sand as the substrate and I let them out of the run periodically to a larger fenced in area. They seem content. No fighting or anything else that would indicate the chickens are unhappy with their living arrangements. I do worry that they might get bored.

I like the sand because I can easily rake it and they take dust baths in it. Right now, because of melting snow and such, the sand is looking a little on the mushy side and I am considering maybe trying something different but I am unsure what. I think hay or wood chips would probably get exceedingly gross.

I tried a bunch of things to enrich them with no success. They did start picking at the spray millet so that is something. I ordered the Omlet perch and peck toy to see what happens.

How long have you had chickens?

I'm not familiar with where "dorkland" is :D

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

Hello!

I fixed it. I am in massachusetts, USA.

As far as how long I have had chickens, that is a little complicated. I had chickens as a teen (4 ish years) and then again when I was in college for a few years (another 4ish). I also had other birds including pigeons, ducks, and pheasants. I took about 7 years off from birds and just restarted with 3 chickens about 2 months ago.

Perfect timing to find this thread! I'm currently considering the Go Up with a 2mtr run and 12 mtr fencing for a flock of 3-4 silkies. Do you think this is big enough, or should I invest in the Cube?
Thanks, Chicken Newb
To be honest if I had the money I would have gone cube, I have 4 chickens and personally feel 3 max. Lucky for me my chickens all grew up together and there is never any issues :) they all snuggle together during the day and night so for this reason I'm ok about the up and go and mine has a 3m run then every other day free range but they always stay close

My set up is pretty almost that. I have the go, not the up and more fencing. I strongly recommend you get the 21m fence or more.

As far as the number of chickens, I have 3 orpingtons and they fit fine. Silkies are significantly smaller. But my chickens are sisters and grew up together so fighting.

I am happy with Omlet products so far.

I did however modify the run because I was worried about raccoons.

I too have brought the fencing 21m but yet to put it up
