?? For what it's worth (in terms of my sanity) it only cost us $10 total, because was made out of an old computer desk, an old baby gate, and other odds & ends we had laying around. The only thing we actually PURCHASED was the wire mesh that we wrapped it with.

That is my Chic-a-Holic 4 yr old DD Sami, underneath... she would sleep there if I allowed it!!!

Oh, and I DO plan on phasing them to downstairs gameroom when bigger/messier, then outside when it gets warm... Don't tell my daughters!

Anyway, they are definitely the center of attention in this house, are going to be the "most socialized" chickens EVER!!!

Yep, VERY easy, the gate slides open to the side, I can also get in from the top if nesc., plus NO BENDING OVER, which I love.

Have a cardboard "liner" set into the bottom, with that rubbery "shelving paper" stuff for traction, paper towels over that. also got some of that "Eco-bedding" for it. Sounds like a lot, but all I need to do is roll up the paper towels with the dirty bedding in it & replace. Will eventually need to replace cardboard, etc, but not for a WHILE... is staying very clean so far.

Oh, and as far as DH goes, I could say that he is a very kind and tolerant man (which IS very true), but I guess I would have to add that after 10+ years of being married to looney-toons me, I think he just figures "could be worse..." . I am a Zookeeper by trade, have had everything from orphaned lion cubs to an 8 foot long albino burmese python here. (He was NOT a fan of the snake

, probably won't do THAT again...)

That little girl startled me I didn't expect to see her down there! lol
Very cute and is giving me ideas for when I get my little ones (Chicks not children)

Personally, I LOVE it. It has gotten my creative juices flowing that is for sure! I've found that having the chicks brooding right in the middle of everything makes for well socialized hens that are unflappable later!

However, I have to tell you, it was the catchy thread title that lured me in.....I really wanted to see what a "Family Doom Decor" brooder looked like!

Way to go! I imagine that zookeeping is alot like having chickens, once it is in the blood it never goes away....
