Anyone else setting eggs this weekend? 8-3-12?

All, but 1 of mine has hatched! Oh wow, I wasn't expecting such a great success this first time! I love my incubator! It worked great!

Here's a bad photo of some of the chicks, I still have 2 in the incubator. One waiting to hatch and the other drying off.

4 go to a new home today. The mixed breeds that were sold to me as pure bred. Grrrrr... I have a friend taking them for free.:)

Last count over twenty chicks have hatched and finally one quail. So glad I waited and didn't throw everything out the day after 21. Hope to post pictures soon. Love the pictures of chicks ladies.

pleased u waited & yr patience paid off with a good hatch, congratulations

all my 18 r well & thriving,it was hard to wait till end of day 23

Gosh I just have some bad luck right now. This morning I went to the PO to pick up my FBCM day olds that were shipped on Monday from KY. Of the 12 that shipped, only 6 arrived alive. :( They are healthy and looking good though. They have already buddied up with the two I hatched last Friday.

Not to sure about the six eggs that I set on Saturday. I candled them on day three and didn't see much...I will candle again at day 7 and see what I have going on with them.

Again, congratulations to everyone and hugs to the ones who didn't have such a great hatch. I sure have enjoyed the last several weeks and have really enjoyed seeing the pictures over the last week or so. :)

Oh no, I'm so sorry!

I'm buying more eggs now and adding to my collection before its too late to integrate these together. These will be another set of shipped eggs. The ones that were sold to me as mixes went to a friend yesterday.:). She gave me lovely garden vegetables in return! That was so nice of her.

I'm using these to show too, so they are not cheap either.

I don't want to buy live chicks either. I'm so sorry for your troubles!

I also notice the ones that need to be assisted out of the shell have leg issues for being in the egg too long. I've had this twice! Once with my broody and now with my last hatch.

I have fixed both chicks by giving polyvisol vitamins and making makeshift splints. If you repair immediately, they recover right away. It's amazing. My one that I assisted yesterday could not bare any weight on its legs is now walking this morning! She was too big for her shell and could not zip. She took up the entire egg. She's either a very light blue or splash and will be rehomed.

I kept my last chick I helped, her growth was stunted severely for being in the egg 1-2 days too long, but she lived! My barred EE is 5 months and the size of a 2 month old.
