Anyone else's diamond dutchess lay eggs yet?

Looks like we got our first egg yesterday! It’s soft shell and the girls obviously ate it but so cool!

I got a coupel of those to start them on oyster shells

I’ve been giving them oyster shells for about a week now. Just went out to check and found this one!

Just wanted to share the eggs one of my Diamond Duchesses laid over the past 4 days (in order left to right; store bought egg added for size reference). Only one of my 3 DD’s are laying so far, but I’m expecting another one to start any day now because her comb has gotten really red. I also have 5 Lavender Orpingtons that typically start laying later from what I understand, so I’m trying to be patient, but also checking 4-5 times per day because I work from home part of the week and can’t help myself. Hah!

I am obsessed with the colors of these Diamond Duchess eggs from my 3 girls! The light one on the second row is actually a very pale blue. We’re still getting various sizes, and the big ones almost always have double yolks (which is fine by me because I love toast dipped in runny egg yolks!

Just waiting on my five 20-week old Lavender Orpingtons to start earning their keep, but one did the submissive squat yesterday, so it’ll be soon!
