Anyone ever do a test hatch?

I bought an incubator last year. I have never hatched eggs before, but thought it would be nice to raise my own from egg to Adult. Eggs of the specific breeds I want are expensive, so I wanted to test my incubator before buying eggs to make sure I gave them the best chance.

Anyone ever do a test hatch?

Yes I have, and I think its a good idea. Do you have some fertile eggs to work with?

I do. They would be a barnyard mix, my rooster is BR and my hens are ISA Brown and Leghorn. Do you think anyone would want the chicks after they hatch? I won’t have room for the test chicks plus the eggs I want to hatch, so I’ll need to get rid of some at some point.

I did a few test hatches when I got my NR 360. I looked on Craigs list for eggs and asked if they had a rooster. I sold the chicks that hatched. Great incubator!

I see lots of local chickens on Craigslist. I would advertise there.
