Anyone ever gotten a "foreign object" in their eggs?

Okay, someone in our local bird fanciers forum asked about this and having done chickens since I was just a little girl and never seen this (being 51 now) I was thinking I maybe should ask the experts. It seems well this is what she wrote:

"Hi all, a woman i work with handed me a twist tie and told me she found it in one of the chicken eggs she bought from me. i had never seen the black plastic twist tie before and I am baffled as to how it could have gotten in the egg. She swears it was in it, she cracked it into a bowl and stated it was inside the yolk.

After reviewing chicken anatomy i just don't understand how a twist tie could get into an egg, even if the chicken decided the twist tie was a tasty tidbit to eat. Granted the egg comes out the same hole as poop, but the egg is usually fully formed by the time it gets there. I have found nothing on the internet that states how this could happen and a talked to a state vet that said he didn't believe it.

anyone else ever have something pop up in an egg....other than a chick???"

I am of the opinion that the woman had a twist tie in the bowl and missed it. I can't see it ending up in the egg but I really would like to see what everyone else thinks of this. Any thoughts?

That is insane.

Like if I swallow a marble my baby will be born with a marble in his belly??

I agree with you. I'd bet the twist tie either in the bowl or stuck to her sleeve or something. There's no way the hen ate it and it came out in an egg, just not possible. It would have to enter from the other end and we KNOW you didn't do that!

I can't figure how it would have made it through everything and into the egg without damaging her, oh, and as for different holes no not really it comes out the same exit as the awful stuff it just seals it up so it is more sanitary. I had a customer just about die when she realized that!

Maybe it did stick to her sleeve! That is pretty logical too.

I think that MFB meant the same thing I did...the egg doesn't form in the same tube the food goes down. It just comes out the same one the food comes out.

Thank you, sorry I am over-snowed apparently! Sorry about the misunderstanding MFB! (and sick of winter and I did so well in January).
