Hot-n-humid farm!
I have two lovely Pekin drakes who were raised together. Unfortunately, the time they hit full testosterone levels, one seriously tries to kill the other, either by drowning or wicked fighting. We found the solution was to literally halve their pen (a 10x20 dog pen w/aviary netting). They still do everything together, except they both have their feathers and are alive!

We moved recently and set the area up like it was, but now they do NOT like their small pools and the new ground is not doing well for the small pools. We end up with major mud. They ignore the pools to get closer to one another, but the heat here is about to hit major digits and they need that water!

So DH and I were musing... what if we built a small pond for the enclosure, but kept the divider (wood frame/chicken wire), so they couldn't swim under it? Has anyone tried this and what were the results?

Thanks!

Its not hard to put something under water. Use the plastic netting and pvc tubing. 3/4 inch. dig the pond, use your outside grill to heat the pvc and while its hot bend it to fit the contur of the pond bottom. Then using plastic wire ties fasten the netting to the tubing. Drill some small holes and use wood screws to fasten the pvc pipe to the bottom of your divider.
