. The one and only little peep that my silkie hatched Weds can't stand. one or both of it's legs are stretched out to the side. I am praying it will correct itself but I'm not feeling very hopeful. Any suggestions?

Well, I've never handled it in chickens, but when I bred and raised parrots, and had one with a splayed leg, I would take a thin strip of duct tape and kinda splint the legs close together, where they should be and let the legs fix themselves.

It can be corrected in parrots if caught early enough, but I'm not sure if it's the same for chickens.

Sorry if I'm not much help. I just saw all your posts and wanted to let you know it may be curable.

Good luck-
Jess

Two out of three showgirls that I hatched had splay? leg. I found vet wrap cut into narrow strips worked very well and didn't stick to the feathers. I could also adjust the space in the middle easier as they improved. Most livestock supply places have it.

First aid sections in WalMart's also have something similar but it is thicker and I found it harder to use. It looks like a lightweight ace bandage but it is self sticking.

My cous had a chick kinda like that. If you can't get the legs straightened then don't put the chick down. My cousins chicken leg was bent all the way backwards when it was grown but he hopped on one leg and was actually very happy.
