Hope this is in the right spot. I just noticed their advertisement on the website. I want to raise meat bird and this might be a fun way to get my daughters excited about it.

Does the dye fade on its own or do you wash it off? Does it effect the birds? Is it cruel to dye the babies?

im a new chicken owner so please pardon my dumb questions

The feed store gets them here every easter. I think someone on here had 1 named Kermit. They dyed fluff is replaced by the new feathers.

From what I hear they inject the egg with the dye at some point before hatching. They are dyed until their new feathers come in and the dyed fluff falls off. They say it is not harmful to them.

Thats great!!! Im glad they will stay dyed for a lil while. I put in for a notification when they are taking orders for them.
Haileys Birthday is in March so maybe the chicks will be here for her Bday. Im sure her friends would love it!!!

Check what breed they are coloring, you don't want to end up with SKINNY leghorns if you're wanting meat.

Having the chicks colored might get the kids a little attached???

I don't htink they inject the eggs with dye, that would color pullets as well. they sex them first and color all males I believe, the pullets get premium price, as pullets!

I believe they do inject the dye into the eggs. I believe most are sold as straight run.
