Many years ago I had one NH and a few Australorps. One Australorp was top hen, the other Australorp was the hench. Then the hench died of old age. The top hen who was also old, but still top was with out a hench, the NH rushed in to volunteer her services and tell the top hen, she's so lucky to now have her as the hench. When the top Australorp started to be too old, the NH abandoned the Australorp and acted like she did not know her. It was sad.
