I've been thinking of what to use for my chicks when I get them. I have a ton of old sheets around from having puppies. I hate using paper for my pups and find sheets easier. I have a heavy-duty washer and find sheets easier to clean...pick up and toss in washer on heavily soiled load. Done.

Anyone do this with chicks?

Good idea? Bad? What do you think.

I think that is a good idea at least it is worth a try since you don't mind putting them in your washer. It may not be a particularly absorbent material, so once the poops get wetter and more frequent you may want to switch over to pine bedding once they are not in danger of eating it.

I use baby receiving blankets that I used for our puppies but only for about a week, then they went on shavings. :thumbsup
