Anyone experienced in Mauve Orpingtons?

I bought some Mauve Orpingtons eggs from a seller but all the chicks seem to be different colors so I'm guessing they are not all mauve.

I read the thread where Mauves are produced by breeding a chocolate to a splash and I know when I requested the eggs the breeder had to bring the rooster back into the hen house because it was used for Olive eggers. I had to wait 2 weeks. So im guessing the rooster has a blue gene?

anyway, its not that im upset they ain’t all mauve I just want to know what color they will be, chocolate? Lavender? Something else?

There’s little info/pictures of mauve chicks to compare it seems.

If the roo was being used for olive eggs, it means the hens are blue layers

The variety is probably normal... Ik from my hatching of cochin bantams that my white chicks are occasionally odd shades of blueish fuzz before feathering out white, and I've also had a black chick with reddish fuzz on his back, but he still feathered out black. I think some variation of color within that color is ok/normal too, especially if it's a project

Hmm, interesting. I mean was told/sold mauve Orpington eggs so im hoping it wasn’t a project but it seems it’s becoming a project at least on my end now.
