Anyone feed there chickens "Comfrey"

Internal consumption of Comfrey by humans and animals has been a source of debate for centuries. Some people swear by it as a digestive aid, others consider it poisonous.
The safest advice I have heard for chickens is to allow them access to it while they are free-ranging, but NEVER give it to confined chickens as they may then eat more of it than they should. That way they can pick at a bit of it as they see fit, but they won't gorge on it like a caged chicken might.
