Anyone here from NE Ohio?

I am new to chickens. My Dad and I have several coops and plant to sell chicks and hatching and eating eggs. My girls are also interested in showing in 4H next year. I hope to setup a website soon (have to figure out how to do that).

We currently have an Americauna, Barred Rock, Black Star/Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Olive Egger x2, that hatched 4/1/11 (hopefully laying in a few weeks). We also have 3 laying hens that are 1 yr old Jersey, Golden Buff, Wyandotte Mix and we regularly get 3 eggs each day. Lastly we have 2 Frizzle Bantam Polish a cockrel and pullet. We are building a second coop and plan to split it in half and breed polish bantams/frizzles (need to hatch some smooth to breed with our frizzles so we dont end up with frazzles) and seramas. We have 15 serama eggs being shipped next week and we have polish chicks that should be hatching soon.

I have never been involved with 4H and I am not even sure how to get started. Hoping to learn about breed standards etc. Would be nice to have a local chicken friend to talk with and bounce ideas off of.

Our little polish bantam frizzle started crowing for the first time today - it is sooo exciting!

Hello! I'm from Northeastern Ohio! Welcome! I also have a Polish Bantam frizzle. I was lucky enough that a picture I sent in was chose for pick of the week, this week! I'd love for you to have a look at the pic. It's on the home page.

I just love the frizzles, and I recently purchased two bantam cochin frizzle girlfriends for PJ, before I realized it's a bad idea to breed two frazzles together. Oh well, I love the way they looks and I think they are great pets.

I've got a smaller 6x6 A frame coop for the banties, which are my eye candy, and just pets, and then I have the big hen house with several layers in it.

So nice to have someone to share info and stories with!

Take care,

Sharon

Hello and welcome to BYC! I'm from Minnesota. We are still pondering the idea of 4-H. My girls can not decide if they want to show their chickens or not. We are leaving up to them. Good luck with your first eggs. We are still waiting too, our oldest 3 are 21 weeks. We are expecting eggs any day now. They act like they are ready to lay. It's nice to meet you..
