Anyone ging to the KY state Fair?

I lived in KY for 10 years and had to say I absolutely LOVED the Fair. It was always very well done and tons to see and do. The best year was the one I worked there!

Hi all. I was wondering, if we can only go down one day to look at the birds and see what the show is like, would it be better to go on Thursday, or Sunday? We might be interested in purchasing a bird or 2, depending on what is available and what we have room for, but more importantly we want to see everything. Any opinions on the best day? Thanks in advance for any insight.

The actual judging is on Thursday, so the birds will probably look their best and be the freshest. They will have some rows temporarily blocked off while they are judging. But that doesn't last long. If you want to buy, Sunday would probably be best for a bargain, but the birds are a little tired from being on display, and poked at, and prodded by unknowing people, who think it's funny to watch them jump.

I don't remember hatching eggs for sale, but maybe I can help. What are you looking for?

Oh, boy! I don't even know yet. I am thinking BO or RIR, something that is a good layer of a bigger egg, and a good pet, too, lol!

We're not quite set up to hatch yet, but we will be soon. I'm trying to decide if we want to try and hatch right off the bat or just order the correct # of hens and roos that we want. I'd hate to try and get rid of extra roos if the kids watched them hatch as their first ever chickens, but we realistically won't be able to keep more than 1 (2 at MOST). I'd only like to keep 5-10 hens; isn't that right for just 1 roo? But if we had 2 breeds I'd want a roo of each. ARGH! This is too addicting!

I think we are going to go out to Shephersville this Saturday. I hear you have to get up EARLY to get anything worthwhile.

Whats going on Saturday? If there's chickens involved, I gotta be there

Apparently there is a sale in Shepherdsville on Sat mornings.
It is supposed to be at the intersection of Hwy 61 and HWY 480, and supposed to be every Sat from 8 until noon. I think it's next the Detention center? It's a buy/sell/trade feathered creature thing I think, not like an auction.

Hey ourblessednest,

I don't have anything like what you want. Mine are mostly bantams except for some Jersy Giants and Pitt Game. Maybe someone else will be able to help.

Sorry,

Yolonda

P.S. Is everyone else as excited about the fair? It's almost here!!!!!

I went on Friday night.... A lot of birds, mostly small breeds, but did not see much for sale... Saw some pretty sad looking birds as well....Some of them I would have been ashamed to take them to the fair.
