Anyone going to have eggs hatch in novemeber?

That's the best thing about mixed breeds...you never know what you'll get! Its like opening a present!

I know!! Thats what i tell my dad, its so fun to see what they grow up ot be then you can guess what they are from :D

Well the ones supposed to hatch are probably dead. This morning my temp was too low. I turned it up and when I got home it was 106. Probably up too high for too long. I'll give them a day or two to see if they hatch but I'm pretty sure I accidently booked them in the shell.

I left them in the bator just in case. Came home today and I have 2 chicks hatched and 1 pipped. I don't know how long the temp was at 106 but it seems they are ok. I pretty sure one egg was a quitter before going into lock down so if the pipped one hatches that leaves one more to hatch.

I only have 5 eggs, 3 RIR and 2 EE. They are due on the 19th.

This is my first hatch, and I'm using a homemade incubator. They are at day 11 and I have had total success they are all alive and kicken. From what I have read I have been expecting at best a 50% hatch rate, so when can I expect to lose some eggs? Or when is the critical point? Lol not sure how to word my question..
I find the hatching is actually the critical stage. If you get good development by day 9 -11, then I haven't had but one quitter til hatch days. then I have had some not hatch for various reasons.

i,ve worked out that my little chicks are silkies, they each have 5 toes.1 is all bright yellow and 1 is a reddish colour with black markings, can anyone tell me what colour they will be when fully grown many thanks.

if you arent on the list let me know by sending me a private message. tell me when your hatch date is and what type of eggs you're hatching. i'll do my best to keep everyone updated as to who's hatching what and when....

Usually once they hatch you're past the critical stage. I've had some make it to lock down and fail to hatch for unknown reasons.

day 6, I checked 4 eggs. 1 i couldn't see anything in (dark shell), one (that has a cracked shell) has a thick vein :( think it might not make it. Then 2 of them have great veining going on in them. I stopped at that point because i don't want to candle all of them yet. I do that at lock down.
I am getting excited. I wasn't sure if anything would hatch after the handling. Oh and my mailman was fired!! apparently he was the one that damaged the eggs. so if any other eggs are sent to me I doubt if they'll be damaged that badly. :D

So good to hear at least some of them are developing. I've put some of my crossbred eggs in with my shipped eggs. So they are sort of the control group. If they hatch well (last time they were 100%) and the others don't then I at least know the 'bator was fine and it wasn't anything I did. I have several people that will buy those chicks if I don't want to keep them.

These are mixed breed. Once my moms rooster matures i'll be able to get local mixed breed eggs that are fertile. but until then I'm stuck ordering them. I'd rather pay shipping then to pay for over priced eggs full of bacteria. At least getting eggs from people on here I know they are well cared for.
I had bad experience getting local eggs from someone. First hatch went 50%, then after that had No hatch from all his eggs. I quit getting them they aren't worth the electricity.
