Anyone Goto the NC State Fair yet?

Well I just got a phone call from my husband's best friend and girlfriend. They are going on Tuesday and are treating us the entry fee. My mom is giving me $$$ for ride tickets so my husband can take our daughter on a few. I'll get to see the animals and eat not good for me stuff. So I'm kinda happy... I'm tired of being broke!

I have $$ stashed aside that my dear Mommy gave us so we can treat the kids to a day at the fair. My 7 yo DD is counting down the days. She adores the cute little chicks and ducklings in the poultry barn and is so hard to drag out of there. I get a kick out of listening to the roosters. Some of them have crowed so much they sound hoarse.

We went too late...no chickens!

My daughter went nuts over the cows though! LOL

There weren't as many chickens as last year (noticed the same thing with the rabbits too -- ?) but they were there. DD got her fill of chicks and ducklings and I got to meet "the man" as I called him. "The Man" is a great big, beautiful Blue Orpington. He was there with his lovely lady friend. The Man took 1st place... and what a gorgeous boy he was! Boy, do I have a thing for roosters these days or what.

Someone bought a very pretty pair of Splash Silkies while I was there. I wish that I could have bought them but we're all full up here for now.

One day I will have Silkies... and Jersey Giants... and Polish... and Blue as well as Black Orpingtons...

No, sorry I meant we didn't get to the animals until after 7pm and they won't allow anyone by exhibitioners in that area. They had moved any chickens from that day out. I was very sad!
