hi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you have ever had a chick imprint on you after hatching. I had one hatch early and I felt sorry for it - so I carried it around for the day until the next one hatched. Now it seems to think I am mum - peeping when it can’t see me, coming when I call, eating everything I touch etc. it is super cute and not my first batch of chicks - but the first to act this way. Have any of you been adoptive parents to clingy chicks? How did it work out for you?

Here is the little squirt - don’t worry about the no heat, it was a horribly hot day

When i was about 12 and our mail order chicks had arrived at the farm. I picked one to be my pet. Turns out it was a he. That chick did become a watch Roo and was very territorial when it came to irregular visitors approaching me. He would surprise attack them if they came too close or too quickly. So, to answer your question, yes I have had a chicken imprint on me. I think my Grandparents loved the fact the rooster kept the neighborhood boys at their distance! LOL!
