Anyone had success in moving a broody hen?

My one has gone broody beside my garage.. it's a sheltered area surrounded by very tall cedars and the tractor shed back onto this side location HOWever predators will be an issue come nightfall...

so this wonderful locale ain't all it's cracked up to be, she will have to be moved or ?????

Yes I would move her she may not cotinue to sit but at least she'll still be alive come morning. unless you want to build fort knox around her.

I move mine all the time, to a "maternity" pen. However, my nest boxes are single and movable. I can only advise you to do it at night and make sure to stress her as little as possible. Have everything ready in advance and move the eggs first. Her new home should be away from others and small enough so she can't wander fare. A large dog shipping kennel is ideal. My maternity pens are 30"x 30" and 30" high. The girls have room to eliminate and eat/water, but little else. They are private and there is nothing to disturb them. Dakness and a soft touch will aid your success...........Pop

Yeah, no fort knox building going on here.. bloody cold.. and snowing.. i'd sooner bang my head on a wall than have to build right now lol

Thanks... hmmm.. i have two already broody in the barn, i can probably toss together a nest box and put her in there...
