Well, I had written this batch off.
We had a bator that we bought just jumping the temp everywhere so we built one and moved the eggs. Then my thermometer went out and the eggs got cold during their last 3 days.
So, right now out of 24 eggs I've got 2 PIPS....

I incubated around 40 chicks this summer so far and I thought we were done. Then two of my year old hens went broody the same day and are due to hatch on Monday. They each had 1 egg so I put four more under one and 5 under the other. So far so good. The one BO has always prefered the floor by the nest boxes to deposit her eggs. Well she decided to nest there too. OK except the other hens would not leave her alone. Between eggs being stepped on, eaten and otherwise being left in the cold she has three left after I decided to put her in a cage. I'm hoping one or two will make it.

Then there is the black crested polish that went broody the same day. So this one I started with 6 and the next day I checked and she has 11! She is in one of the nests so I'm hoping she will do good. She is not allowing any more eggs.

This story is not done yet. Two weeks later another BO went broody, this one in a nest box. She has 5 eggs so we'll see how she does. I HOPE no more go broody. I will update on Monday and have some pics.

I have never had a broody yet. I can't wait. We have one hen that just finished molting and now she has pulled out the feathers on her chest but she is not staying in the nest box so I don't know if it was part of the molt or not. I am watching her though. I have silkies that are nine months old and they aren't laying or brooding yet.

I do have welli's and lt brahmas hatching in the bator right now though. They are shipped eggs from JamesA from BYC and so far 2 of each have hatched. Tonight starts day 21 on them.

None of mine made it. 2 hatched late last night/this morning and they weren't fully developed.

So, still no chicks for me...

I'm expecting some today/tomorrow but I don't think I'm going to get anything

I'm having some naturally hatch starting today (barred rocks being hatched by a couple of Mille Fleurs!).

Will post pics shortly.

Have some questions to ask the board first.
