Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

Well, I agree that it is now an obsession. I got another incubator off of ebay so I could do a staggared hatch, I just got my egg turner, and I finally got my BO eggs in the mail yesterday. I set my Ameraucana and BO eggs this morning for a Christmas Eve hatch. I was going to have them hatch on Christmas but I didn't want to let them set any longer. I got the Ameraucana eggs on Monday and wanted to have them and the BO's hatch at the same time. So lets see currently in the bator I have my 4 bantam Buckeye's that are due on the 12th, 1 bantam and 3 LF Buckeye eggs due on the 18th and now 9 Ameraucana and 12 BO eggs due on the 24th. And this is my very first time hatching. Yep, definitely an obsession.

So this morning as I am putting the BO and Ameraucana eggs in the bator my husband asks me where we are going to put them all when they hatch....

Details, details... I told him we will figure that out if they hatch and that they can't go outside until they are feathered out anyway. So they will just have to stay in our master bathroom where the incubators are.

sekinkead, that is exactly what I told hubby! I said "If I'm lucky 50% will hatch, and thats only 15!" LOL I forgot to mention the 6 coming today and then I ordered more last night!

Today I'm on days 8 & 6 of my first 2 sets. I have 5 I'm pretty sure were never fertilized. I'll be candling once more then pitching them today. I probably ruined a few by wiping them off, but the eggs were so dirty/poopy I couldn't tell if the smell came from them or a rotten egg. Turns out it was the poop, the 'bator doesn't stink anymore. *sigh* However, after I wiped and candled only 1 out of 6 had anything going on anyway.

We are all SICK!!! I think we all need some serious therapy. By therapy I mean retail therapy...anyone know where I can get some Lavender Orps? LOL!! Just kidding, the kids actually want EEs next. No seriously, I don't need any more chickens....just their fertile eggs...no really...I don't want any more eggs, I NEED them!!!!! What a terrible thing this is....I wonder if my insurance will recognize this as an addiction/disease and pay for rehab?

she sent 9 instead of 6, none broken. I'm gonna add them in tonight.

I gave up on 2 from the original set and cracked them open today. One had a broken yolk, the other wasn't fertilized. I have about 6 more to double check tomorrow. I think they're duds too though. Plus a few that I cleaned off are probably duds too.

Even the kids were excited about those. Then they saw some Millie Fleur D'Uccles and decided they would like some of those, oh and some silkies. Then they saw call ducks and want a couple of those as well.

All is good here we still have 9 strong from the original 14. I am sure everyone else has larger incubators than I do....I think mine can hold 50.....but how do you stagger your hatchings? Won't they get messed up with different humidities? How does that work? I am sure my hubby would rather you not tell me....but I really need to know. I am passing up too many eggs that i could be purchasing. LOL! In all seriousness I will most likely wait until these hatch in 11 days, then add more....but for future reference or in case I see something I can not pass up....how do I do it?
