Anyone hatching Dec 14th? Looking for hatching buddies for 1st hatch!

Well, all is still VERY quiet over here. I am really going to start the freak show over here tonight with peeping and tapping on the incubator. I have already lost the "pool" of money for guessing hatch time....well actually if one wll completely hatch by midnight I will still be the closest to the hatch time.

I have enjoyed looking at the pics. We have had a major crisis over here. In an effort to get rid of some fleas the dog brought in, I bought DE. While I was gone today the 9 year old decided to spread it out for me. ALL OVER THE UPSTAIRS....WHERE ALL THE BEDROOMS ARE!!! So instead of enjoying the Cowboy game this afternoon we have been cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. What a mess!!!!!!! I think we will have to call in professionals.

Lastly.....Kooltex I was so close to your home today...I think. I took my girls to pick up a new puppies in the Princeton/New Hope/McKinney area. Somewhere off of 1827 (I think). I should have come and looked at your chicks since mine are taking their sweet little time.

Well it looks like everybody is catching up......I know my little Tuffy is just cheeping cheeping away! She settles down when I hold her to my chest or cup her in my hand. She is alone so far and I really hope that at least one more hatches because I don't want her alone.
I am kind of weary because today is day 21 and so far no movement or noise from the other eggs that I know are fertile.
The farm told me that I should wait a few more days because of the breed but...I don't know....

If I have to replace the eggs, would it be better if I get her a chick or would "she mind" if I tried to incubate more of breed?

I know it sounds stupid, but I don't want to traumatize her having to be alone but then I am afraid of getting a store chick because of disease....please somebody talk some sense into my thick head!!

Congrats to everybody's beautiful hatchlings!

awwwwwww! He's cute!
I just re-read my notes and found I had marked the first 2 days as 99degrees, this was before I knew the still air should be higher! So I may be 2 days late. lol

Now if I can just stay away from Trader Joes tomorrow when I go down to Pittsburgh. Must-not-buy-fertile-eggs! must-not-buy....awww, heck, it's not working!

I know I know...Im looking at eggs on ebay already!!! Luckily I do not see any of the breeds I want. I think I need to put the bator away till spring. I'm running out of brooder space!

I still have 3 sets left in the 'bator! lol 3 mixed Silkies lockdown on Tuesday. 7 Lavender Silkies due the 24. Then DH's Christmas present BCM's (he wants a rooster) they came with blue Marans and EE's and 3 mystery eggs. Then 1 ducky for new years! lol

I made my mistakes early on so the set in lockdown now are the ones that got the worst of it.

I'm not sure how far you are from me, you're just west of Long Beach yes?... That's about a 1 hour drive from me. I have 3 babies and I'm not planning on keeping them, I wanted Barred Rock chicks and the seller very poorly sold me the wrong type. Anyway, if you want, if none of your others hatch, we could work something out. And I don't think it sounds stupid, they are flock birds and they definately do better with buddies. Think about and PM me if you're interested.

well...I knew I'd make beginner mistakes so I bought way more eggs then I expected to hatch. Plus they were all being shipped! I started with 56 and am around 33 now. I had a bunch scramble in the mail, or not fertile. I think I'll have the best luck from the set the Marans are in.
