You will get a broody, it just might take some time. I was taken by surprise when she did. I was just glad I had hoarded her eggs! I can't bring myself to eat a silkie egg. BTW I have 2 dozen silkie eggs coming Monday

Yes, that's exactly what they do. They sit ALL day. I left her for a day and she was still there the next day. So I took her some eggs and placed them in front of her and she bulldozed them under her. That's when I knew she was definately broody.

One of my geese Miss Andrea goes Broody. I have to literally lock her out of the night coop during the day or she would sit on an empty nest all day long without food or water. I take the eggs away regularly and even start to dismantel the nest after they stop laying but she is a tuff broody. Once I found her siting on 2 small rocks she had put in a make shift nest

I hope to sell my culls in the spring. There is a local chicken auction every Friday but I want them to feather out more before I make my final choices. I don't think I will have trouble selling them. When I was meeting someone at a feed store to pick up a roo, we had a large gathering just looking at him.

I have tortoises and always dread losing power in the winter. We live outside the city so it seems we get help from the electric company as a last effort

Nothing yet. I'll be gone all day though,

and I'm hoping to have a few by the time I get back tonight. Anyway, the temp has been a little low, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were a day or so late.
