I fell asleep moments after I managed to set the eggs..I was completely exhausted as I spent the afternoon and night monitoring the incubator. I wpke what seemed like only seconds later and had to get ready for work and my day...the temp was back to 99.6..

I did get a hydrometer similar to what you mentioned..thank you...I am not quite sure I understood how to calibrate one but it reads 41% humidity. I turned the eggs and the temp fell just a little bit but not too much so I am watching it. Thank you everyone..this is so much fun! I have a feeling I am not going to get much qoek done and really want to go back to sleep but it definitely seems worth it!

I have a batch from CJ as well, mine are due on the 10th! We have alot of people on here with cj eggs, lol. Hopefully all will have good turn outs! Thats a cool idea having a batch to hatch on Christmas eve, I might give that a shot!

I also have a set of Cj's eggs due on November 16. Hoping for a fabulous hatch

Thank you for the advice...I think I definitely will need to get a box of gloves as well...Although think I managed to get things off to a good start it took me all evening and night before I finally started the eggs and although I managed to somehow wake up and turn them and got mysef showered and off to work I am afraid did it in that order...oh dread...

I can't stand the wait between candling! It drives me bonkers!

But I hope I have as much success as you did with the egg "repairs!" I couldn't stand myself if I didn't at least TRY to see if they'd come around.

We almost had a disaster yesterday. The cats unplugged the incubator somehow, and the temperature got to 77, for maybe 15 minutes. Thankfully, I got up there to turn the eggs, noticed the problem, and plugged it back in. The eggs themselves were still quite warm, maybe 90 degrees.

there's no long-term damage.

5 BLRW eggs set to hatch Nov 12th- naturally while we're on a weekend trip to NYC. My friend (with chicken epxerience) is just thrilled to be watching the farmette now knowing she gets to witness the miracle of life again! heehee
