Anyone HATCHING?!?!? Newbie's and addicts WELCOME!!!! Hatch Calendar page 1!!!!

Jackie B. :

5 BLRW eggs set to hatch Nov 12th- naturally while we're on a weekend trip to NYC. My friend (with chicken epxerience) is just thrilled to be watching the farmette now knowing she gets to witness the miracle of life again! heehee

We went out of town 3 days after our last hatch and my sister who has chickens was very excited about coming over everyday to check on them and feed them, now she wants to start incubating,

I have a batch from CJ as well, mine are due on the 10th! We have alot of people on here with cj eggs, lol. Hopefully all will have good turn outs! Thats a cool idea having a batch to hatch on Christmas eve, I might give that a shot!

I also have a set of Cj's eggs due on November 16. Hoping for a fabulous hatch

We have lots of people on here with cj eggs, everyone mst have seen her fall special, lol. We will see how well they do, so far so good here for shipped eggs, probably would be better if the post office hadnt sent them to my house instead of holding them like they were suppose to!!

Lets see... they went in the incubator yesterday, so thats a hatch date of 11/18 or 11/19. Assuming they hatch at all. Getting the incubator set up took longer than anticipated and my shipped eggs sat at room temperature for about 3 days, and NOW all of my thermometers are reading different temps (ranging from 97.5 to 104).

Thanks everyone for the advice!

At lunch I went to the pharmacy and picked up a box of latex gloves. Although it seems I am in a perpetual cleaning mode in an attempt to live with three dogs (two are hairless but somehow the three amigos manage to bring an impressive amount of dirt and general chaos on a daily basis...I can't imagine life without them but if I didn't know better I would swear they plot amongst themselves as to whose turn it is to outdo the previous day's mess!) I think for the sake of the eggs future and well being I must leave my comfortable state of denial and take a few extra precautions.. I must admit have been a few instances I can recall where the determing factor as to whether my house was presentable or in need of a good cleaning was declared acceptable by simply a cursury sweep of the room and the idea to make it "cozy" by closing the curtains a bit thus preventing the light from exposing my laziness..

However, with the amount of time and the emotional energy I have devoted to what I thought would be a simple interesting activity has evvolved to point I'm likely to name them if I'm not careful and that just wouldn't be right!

I must go now as it is time to turn them again...

I am totally dependent on my thermometers and hydrometer and take them with me wherever I happen to be inside my little house...I don't know how I ever lived without them but the weekend days where I would sleep in and ask someone whether it was warm or cold seem like a very, very long time ago! My only challenge so far is having enough pockets to put them on the occasion I leave my laptop...I am going to need to purchase cargo shorts!

PS: If someone were to ask me how long I had been working with hatching eggs I would be tempted to shrug and say "as long as I can recall"...in REALITY it Is DAY 1 of the hatch (after many, many days leading up to everything!

Who is CJ? And does she have anymore hatching eggs? lol!

I'd like to get my hands on some EE eggs. Then I'll have (hopefully!) WS, Marans, barnyard mixes that lay white, pinkish, and light brown eggs. What I'm after is a collection of layers of different egg colors each day. Just think that would be neat.

Cross your fingers my 10 eggs due the 13th hatch. 8 maran (blue over partridge?) and 2 welsummer.

Oh yeah my broody is sitting on 4 eggs that are due halloween. Got serious doubts about 1 of the eggs, but we'll see.

18 Limousines (Coq de Peche) due next week: 12 in the incubator, 6 under a Coucou de France along with another 9 assorted she appropriated when left "unsupervised" one afternoon.
