How difficult is it to candle those maran eggs? I'm hoping to get some in December. How many maran eggs do you have going Melissa Rose?

Glenda sent Christmas in October

and Nellie sent some beauties too. The Blue Marans eggs are a little easier to candle. Glenda sent 4 and 4 and Nellie sent 6 Blue and 2 Black Coppers. I already have several BCMS from Glenda hatched so I am really excited to get the blue as well!!! My darling hubby bought me a LED flashlight from Sams that is 150 Lumens so I could candle the dark eggs !!!! The batteries don't last very long but I use recharable so that's OK. The Black Copper eggs are so dark I don't try to candle until lockdown - if they look solid they go in if the glow brightly they stay out. In the other eggs I candle I can see movement but not in the BCMs. I am soooo eggcited about the silkie eggs about to hatch

So how many eggs are you incubating now? I've lost count, lol. I would try and get a count of how many eggs we have so far on this thread, follow my lead, I'm going to post what I have, then you copy and paste in a new reply and add what you have and hopefully everyone else will follow!

I'm 3 days in and decided to check & see how my shipped eggs are doing. Of the 24 eggs, 2 were cracked, 6 have oddly shaped air sacs (2 of which are huge!), 5 are too dark to see much, 9 have visible veining, and 2 I'm just not really sure about yet.

I looked around a bit- it seems oddly shaped air sacs arent all that unusual for shipped eggs and people have hatched them successfully. Some of them DO move a bit (also not unusual from what I've read), so I've got them as upright as I can, but I'm worried about the ones with really large sacs. One of them goes almost to the bottom. It has veins, so should I just leave it alone & see what happens?

I will post a total in just a little. I've been working on connecting the run to the coop and I need to put my feet up for a few
