Thanks!! They are so funny, we have moved the incubator and brooder in DH "man cave" and they have gotten so use to having the tv on that they go crazy if we turn it off now,

So I candled my 7 EE eggs in the LG last night (Day 14) and to what it appears to me, 3 are def good, 1 very very iffy, and 3 a def NO GO. I am OK with this since its my first ever hatch attempt and I have read lots of stories saying that alot of first(and 2nd and 3rd) attempts come out with nothing, and since I only really want to add 2 pullets to my small flock, 3 seems like a good number anyway, should gaurantee me 1 pullet, hopefully 2. I am going to candle the 3 that look like def NO GO's and the iffy one, one last time right before lockdown, and maybe a quick look at the 3 def GO's. I would say that using the LG is a task to say the least, but with alot of patience and double/triple/quadruple checking everything everyday, I think it works fine, just takes alot of monitoring.

Dang it, I just realized that my eggs are due smack dab in the middle of Ground Hog Day and Valentine's Day. I'm totally failing at giving my chicks special birthday hatches! Hope they forgive me and still hatch. In the meantime, I will confirm what day they are due when I look at my hatch calendar again (I think it's 2/7) and I'll try to find something worth celebrating somewhere, to make their due date special!

I started my staggered hatchings a couple of weeks ago, and my first batch is due this Saturday. These are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, and I've also got Silver Laced Wyandottes and Coturnix Quail in the incubator. I'll have things popping out at least every week now for months. The quail are kind of screwing with my patterns!

Vaulted are more prone to head injury when they are little so don`t let his brothers and sisters peck him on the head.
