Anyone HATCHING?!?!? Newbie's and addicts WELCOME!!!! Hatch Calendar page 1!!!!

I'm so an addict! And this is my first hatch! Lol this is the farm innovators pro series, looks like the LG tho. So question, my internal thermal says 100, but hygrometer says 94, which should I go by?

yes they can hatch different time of the day !! One BYC says his hatch on 26th day !!! can have something to do with temperatures

Hi again, Everyone.

I've had 4 out of my 10 eggs hatch.

Two of them hatched yesterday (hatch day) and two today (Day 22). There are still 6 eggs in the incubator.

None of them have external pips? For those of you that have done this before, is it common (or even possible) for the eggs to hatch on three different days?????? I will mention that for the first 18 days, I was using an old Brower incubator that had extreme temperature variations. (hot and cold spots) I have no intention of removing the 6 eggs until late Day 23...and may even keep them in longer?

Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

2 of my 4 chicks have straddle/spraddle leg. They could move around pretty good, but their little legs would split to the side with every step. My husband helped me put little Band-Aid splints on their legs which they aren't too happy about. They can still stand and hobble a little with the band-aid, and they "roll" around doing unwanted somersaults too. It's pityful, but I think they'll get used to it as the right muscles or tendons strengthen. I added Sav-A-Chick (electolyte/Vit) to their water too. I'm so thankful for all the great advice here on BYC.

I still have 6 unhatched (unpipped) eggs in the 'bator -Day 23.

. Cali Chick be careful of the water bowl with the bandaids on. They can tump over and drown easily. Do you have a really flat stone you can put it on to raise it up some so if the do tump over they will roll out and not in.

Also here is a pic of my first chicklet out. Look at the rubber shelf liner I use. You can get it at the dollar store or on line or at any grocery. It is non slip and has a weave pattern and it helps their little toe bones get a better grip

Hi Melissa, I have shelf liner (just like yours) in the incubator so I don't know why they would be straddle legged, but 2 were-poor little babies. :( I read about chicks drowning in the water so I have the water lifted another inch higher with a big round lid. They are getting around really well with their "splints" but they keep trying to bite and peck them off-LOL!

One of the others is walking kind of bow-legged too. Should we go ahead and put band=aids on her too or will her legs eventually stay together?

Melissa, I wish you were closer too, I am hoping I can find some buyers locally so I can keep hatching, I have 1 regular buyer that bought 3 of my hens about a month ago, and she's going to buy my 4 chicks! But if I keep hatching I have to keep selling, we are already over run by chickens, lol

But I love em all!!!

My 2 red silkies from the batch you sent me are getting soooo big!!! I moved them to a bigger cage in our barn we finally cleaned out this weekend and they seem much happier with all the room! Any idea how old they have to be before you can tell if they are male or female? I'm hoping I have one of each!!
