Should I just leave them alone or make a pip in the egg for them? I added some warm water to UP the humidity, but I knew there was a good reason not to give up...Help...

Go take a look at this link, when you candled could you tell if it had an internal pip like this?

Silkymom, one of the eggs looks like a beak above the aircell line. It was like that yesterday too when I candled, but I didn't wait for movement because I wanted to get it back in the warm 'bator. Today I sort of scratched the egg and waited. Then I saw the pointy thing move for sure. Perhaps the membrane is dry. This is a TINY egg with a BIG aircell. I don't know if I should help it but it might just die if I don't if it cannot move!
The other egg I saw movement in was more of a body shift below the aircell.

What to do, what to do???

I would try to help since you are on day 24, if you don't they will run out of air soon and die anyways. What I would do is get something like a bobby pin and try to puncture the eggs where the beak is facing if you can tell. If you start to see blood STOP! You don't want it to start bleed from it umbilical cord. I would try just making a hole big enough for it's beak and then shut the bator and see if he trys to finish on his own, if he is shrink wrapped like mine was you'll have to go ahead break the whole shell away from him and see how he's doing then.

OK...I used a phillips screwdriver and tweezers to make a little hole about 1/4 inch above the "beak". It looked like part of the chick inside the hole rather than white membrane? But, I didn't candle it again, just quickly put it back in the incubator. My hands are shaking so bad. Should I just watch for movement or zipping? How long should I wait (if I don't see movement) before peeling the shell like you did?

Thanks so much...I'm a nervous wreck!

That's what you want to see is the chick so you can tell if he's moving or not. I would watch him for a few minutes but if the egg isn't moving and you don't see him trying to zip by sticking his beak out within the hour you might have to do what I did and peel the rest of the shell. I know it's nerve racking!! If you do decide to get him out of the shell yourself as soon as you do put him back in the bator, and hopefully he won't be stuck like my little guy was. Good luck!

Sounds like a plan. I haven't seen any movement yet. Of course, I don't know what I'm looking at through the tiny hole, but I made sure to remove the shell and the thin outer membrane. I think I'll go take a shower and then if still no change...I'll take the egg into the steamy bathroom and take more of the shell off.

Hopefully I'll be able to rescue a baby. If not, at least I tried, right? I'll keep you posted. -Cali

When I opened it up, this is what I found. The chick must have been upside down. There is still some yoke to the right side. The "pointy" thing turned out to be the bend in the leg/foot bone? (It's the rounded thing on the bottom/right of the chick.) I left the bottom of the shell intact -like a cradle for the baby. It still hasn't moved out of this position. Is it safe to say, that it's dead? I put it back in the incubator....maybe I need to take it out.

I hate to give up, but I don't have much hope about even this one now.
