Silkymom, thank you for your encouragement along the way. Wow, what a stressful journey (incubating). I wasn't going to do this again soon (at least with shipped eggs). But, I just discovered a breeder in my area that has silkies!!!!!!!!!!!!! I might go take a look and see if they are SQ and healthy. Hmmmmmmmmm, I'm curious how a hatch of local eggs would go now!

I will almost guarantee your hatch rate will go way up if the eggs aren't shipped. When I incubate my own eggs I have at least a 75% hatch rate, with shipped eggs I do good to hatch 50%.

So I got home tonight to find that my housekeeper unplugged my incubator while "cleaning" .... Empty trash boxes and broom left in front of plug to prove cleaning is a subjective thing. I think it was off for about 6-8 hours. The temp read 71 at 8pm.... I plugged it in and I guess I just have to wait 8 more days to see if anything hatches.

read your hatch days and i have 118 eggs going now and 4dz more going in the bator when these hatch in march. i have reds,black giant & silkies in right now and going to put more rr in.

aagg....All I can say is:

I would be SO angry with the housekeeper. But like others said (and I've read) they should still hatch, just might be delayed for the amount of time that they cooled down. What day are they on?
