I would run out and buy a cheap incubator, or look up on here how to make one, several people have made there own syrofoam bators for this very reason. Over how many days did you set them?

I have a little incubator, a brinsea, and one chick has hatched. It is trying to get up but just keeps flipping around on the other eggs. Should I grab the little chick out real quick?

i am on day 21. two have hatched now. Here is a pic of one that just came out. Steching his legs!

Well, I set eggs last Sunday afternoon, so I'm on day 6 now! 24 eggs from my mixed flock, my first attempt at hatching so it's sort of a trial run. I desperately want to candle them all the time, haha! But I am trying to just leave them be. I'm not convinced the roos are making it around to all the girls yet (they are young boys) so I'll find out when I candle in a day or two how many I've actually got developing.

I do my first candling on day 6 or 7 usually, it won't hurt. Then I candle around day 14, then when I go in lockdown and that's it! Did you crack any open before you set them to see if they were fertile? You look for a bullseye in the yolk to know if they are fertile or not. Good luck!

I wouldn't open it since another hatched, you don't want the others to shrink wrap and get stuck in there shell. They absorb the yolk right before they hatch which gives them enough nutrients to last 24 hours.

Yeah, we did inspect the breakfast eggs for many days, that's how I knew when I could try setting some. We were getting about half fertile and half not for a while, so I collected a bunch and set them. We'll see how it goes!
