came from the local feed / pet store..what I've always fed the baby chicks..this just happens to be the first time I've hatched my own..usually I buy them from that same store at a day or 2 old

How sad you lost your chickies! I dont think its from handling them with dirty hands. I think something else got them like feed or heat .

yeah, feed is what we are guessing..the local feed people sell it in little paper bags, not in the original bags, guess I'll have to go out of town to get some chick starter. the 3 that survived are doing ok at the moment. but we have 6 more in the bator due to hatch in a little over a week and my daughter has 4-h chicks coming in two weeks...so I need to figure out what the issue is before then..or just start over with other stuff

meshellrose do you have a local feed mill close by. I stoped going to tsc or bigr i go straight to the feed mill by us. and now i supply around 6 people that i know from work with feed for their chickens and they wont go anywhere else either. its alot better qaulity.

I don't think so. We don't have a tsc or other big feed store, we have small town feed store. I'll ask the guy I got my white rocks from. I think he says he gets his feed from a feed mill.

what about walmart? they should have chick starter from mana pro ? Gee I worry about that feed your giving them !! its so sad that we dont want you loose more chickies !!!
