He just gets wound so tight, and he can't unwind. He's finally starting meds, so we'll see how he does. But he really is a sweetheart, he just never stops! He's like that energizer bunny!

I hope they work for him! He keeps getting in trouble at school (he's in preschool, goes 4 days a week), plus we live with my dad atm, and Cris just drives him nuts, so he gets in trouble a lot here too. He really can't help it most of the time. We start taking the meds tomorrow, so hopefully they will help!

Ohhh the poor guy. He doesnt want to be in trouble all the time any more than you want him to be.

That is so tough. I hope the meds work for you. Remember to take time for yourself, too...I used to lock myself in the bathroom for a hot soak in the tub--just to relax and get my bearings back. My kids would lie on the floor outside the bathroom and talk to me from the crack under the door! They didnt really get all that "mommy time" stuff! It is important, though for you to take time for yourself.

Ok, are we sisters far removed...My DD#2 has that and OMG wear you out!!! THey do things I think even they don't know they are doing! She is 12 now and I ask her sometimes if she even knows what she is doing and she says 'No" and it is sincere, I don't think she can control any of it. The only thing I hate about the meds is they work while she is in school and when she gets home she is wired. School benefits from her calmness and we get the wild maniac!

But if they give her meds to work at night, she will be wound and not go to bed. Double edged sword!

not on Xmas, but hatching hopefully on NY EVE!! now i'll have a REAL reason to stay up - to watch my barred rock baby's hatch.

The meds he's starting only last about 4 hours, so the school will benefit from it some, but not that much. The Dr. said he can take it 2 or 3 times a day, but since he's so little, the Dr. wants to wait a while and see how he does on this first. I have 3 boys total, the other 2 don't live with me anymore, but they both had it too. They must get it from me then, cause the youngest has a different dad than the two older ones do. I'm not hyper, but that doesn't mean I can't pass it on. He's usually pretty good at home, with only me and my dad to stimulate him. He gets a bit too wound up at times, but it's not that bad. At school is where he has the biggest problems.

Yeah that is what DD is on...4hours max...do you notice yourself feeling like thoughts are swimming in your head and you cannot straighten them all out....if so that is a symptom of this. The kids are the same way.....that is what causes the chaos...the meds help them focus.
