Bummer...had one egg that quit at about day 19 and I just walked over to the brooder and found the last baby that hatched dead. It's a huge brooder with only 10 chicks so it definitely wasn't overcrowding. Can't imagine. It was the slowest to pip and hatch, but looked ok 2 hours ago.

Day 21 tomorrow.. Christmas Day. I plan on giving my granddaughters 7 EE eggs along with an incubator for Christmas. I didn't want them to have to wait 21 days for chicks to hatch the first time for them. So I set the eggs to hatch on the 25th. We have two pipped now!

late but...................I HAVE A PIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats, Hinkjc!

I have one silkie pipped and zipping, but nothing on the others. I must say, if I didn't have faverolle eggs in my genesis I would move these guys from the lg over to it. I can't get the humidity up and the temp has been bouncing from 95 to 105. It's plugged into a surge protector and I only adjust it a hair at a time.

And can someone tell me why there are holes in the bottom of the bator?!! It's like some cruel practical joke. I filled up the outside channels just like I do on the genesis...and water starts running out the bottom and all over the floor.

I have a sopping wet dishrag taking up half the bator, but humidity is at 49%. Overall, I'm just not pleased with the LG.

Grif I only have one peep too! She made a big hole though and the humidity is great, but the temp is a little high. I wish the others would hatch

Its ok though I have one baby.

Congrats Jody! I cant wait!

Congrats Jody!

I ended up with 4 Christmas BBS Orps and one more this morning that I hope will make it. Still waiting on one pip and 4 eggs that haven't pipped at all! They were technically "due" last night but I'm hoping for some late arrivals.

And salmon favs due to hatch tomorrow morning.

i ended up with 2 chicks! yay! one hatched christmas eve, the second on christmas! this was my first semi-successful hatch!

and Griffox, i agree about the LG incubator...that's what i have, and ive been having a horrible time with it! i cant keep the humidity up enough so that my chicks dont stick to their eggs/dry up (i lost 1 chick this time because of that! it was pipped and everything!)....so i pour water in. and add the sponges, but it ends up all over the floor because of those stupid holes on the bottom...im thinking about trading it in, and getting something better, that might be a little easier to deal with. the only good thing about it though, is that mine will keep a consistant temp. overall, im not too pleased with it either...

The holes are meant for fresh air circulation. I keep my LG set on some little wodden blocks so it is about 2 inches off table so the air can circulate in. Thats how the fan can bring in fresh air which the chicks need.
When I increased hum I put 2 6 by 6 lids fron tupperware containers in bottom of bator. Put fine tubing through side of bator so it set in lid. Then as I need to add water I use a syringe to push water through tube to lids without opening bator.

Seems to work well so far. IM able to keep hum up that way.
