Well, as some may be familiar with I have a Polish who I'm thinking is a roo. We ordered a pullet.

I really didn't want this.

I've heard some things about males that I wish I hadn't. A friend told us her aunt and uncle had a Polish rooster that as a kid, attacked her and took out a chunk of her leg. She got an infection some time after and had loads of problems because of this thing.

I also hear that Polish boys are as mean as rabid dogs! My chick isn't very mean (yet), just not as social and kind of skittish. He eats from my hand but doesn't allow me to pet him.

So did ANYONE have a past with Polish roosters? Any stories or discoveries about your personal experiences? Anything you can recall that stands out? I'm so worried. I have a little brother to think about. And two other roosters that I KNOW will not back down their power. I'm working my butt off trying to make him come out of his shell but I know from experience, it probably won't help.

I'm going offline but will check back tomorrow! Thanks in advance!

i had a polish rooster who would let me walk up to him in the coop, and pick him up. he was a sweety. unfortunately he was eaten by a coyote....

now i have another polish rooster who doesnt mind me at all. hes not agressive. i let him do his thing and i do mine. he wasnt mine as a baby so hes not that tame. hes not afraid of me, but i cant pet him

I have a polish roo bantam...(here is a pic of my cutie) and even though he is a little skitish...He comes to me and I can pick him up whenever I want without a fight or a peck. I think that he knows thatI am the head roo.

Hi,

I had two Polish roosters which I had to rehome, but only because of the crowing. I live in a residential neighborhood and no one complained but it was making me very nervous.

These roosters were so docile it was incredible. Actually, they were "scared of their own shadow". I cannot imagine them ever attacking anyone but they were flighty and ran for cover whenever you tried to get near them. They hid their heads in a corner, as if not to see what "horrible" thing might happen to them next!

I didn't raise them as chicks so I don't know how they were handled growing up but the woman I got them from seemed to treat all of her animals very well.

As I said, the only reason I rehomed them was because they just made too much noise.

Good luck with your roo!

This is good news.

I'm thinking of how I'm going to make this work with my bantam hens and all, considering this is a standard Polish. I'm just happy none of you have been public enemy number one.

Thank you so much for your time!

That looks like a pullet to me............

Anyway, my polish roo is a Satan Roo. The devil himself, he earned himself a trip down to my FIL's farm because he cannot live here anymore.
