In addition to the solid door I mean. My SO has been wanting to replace the screen door on our porch for awhile now, so I made a deal with him. I'll buy the new screen door for the porch if he'll go thru the extra trouble of adding a wider casing to the coop door opening, so I can use the old one there. It's screened on the top and has a solid panel on the bottom. I thought it'd be good for extra ventilation in the dog days of summer ahead. Of course, we'll still have to close the solid door at night and when we're away from the farm. Does anyone else use a screen door?

We went to lowe's and picked up a simple $18 screen door. We covered over the screen with hardware cloth. It will go up soon to help with ventilation in my big barn. I have hardware cloth covered windows too. We also have fans we run all summer long.

We do on the coop the Blue Orps are currently in. There are double doors that open outward and half this 8x8 part of the L-shaped shed is a coop. We made this one with 2x2's and I'd rather it opened outward, but it was more difficult with the way the main doors were on to do that.

In one of the big rooms in my barn we divided it into 3 different smaller pens. Each of those have screen doors on them. When everyone is inside and I come down the path the guineas set off screaming and the chickens come to the screen and watch for us. LOL Funny birds.

Yup....or will soon.
I picked up a very nice wooden screen door at the recycling yard for $5.00. It even has reinforcing at the bottom. Still, I'm going to add aviary wire or hardware cloth to it. The original plan for it was to be the outside entrance to the run, but now I think I'm going to use it for an inside entrance into the coop itself, since that part of the construction is being done today. The outside run won't be built until next week, so I'll head back to the recycling yard to see if I can find another good door.

I'm thinking some of those nice doors with lots of glass windows would be good to take the glass out of and cover with aviary wire....if I can't find another sturdy screen door that is.
