Anyone have a Sportsman?

Yeah the old hatching tray was metal, looks like the new is plastic

thats dumb you also used to be able to level all the tray and turn them to hatchers. Now there are only 2 sides, so the chicks would just fall off. Gotta buy a hatcher now, or just live with one hatching tray. When something gets better, it gets worse too.

Man, Poison Ivy, those new setups are awesome!!!! I guess I'll have to stick with my old ones though, but they get the job done.

I had to take the pics with flash off so they are grainy. I also didn't have much room to move around the brooders to get a good shot.

No you can level the 3 trays and use them as hatchers. I think I read they even have lids that you can buy to cover them up with. I had it level earlier to install the egg trays. It has a manual button you push to stop it or level it. Then you can push the auto one to make it start turning again.

well, i zoomed on the pic and read what all the buttons do

but you must have to but the end sides seperate, or maybe they are on the lid, you shouldnt have to but them extra tho.

I love it - the whole "digital command center" think - how cool is that!
Seems its so fancy you should be able to COMMAND Pullets from that thing and no roo's!

Okay now I really got to have one of those. I told dh that is my christmas present so I will just have to wait. Can you put those things in a barn or should they be in a control temp room such as your kitchen?

I run 3, 1202 incubators and a 1250 hatcher. I'm very happy with the old-school equipment. If I have a thermostat problem I'm looking at a $6 wafer or maybe a $10 snap switch which I keep on hand. I have to wonder what its going to cost when that new-fangled electronic stuff bites the dust?

Here'a what GQF has to say about location:

The location of the incubator is important to successful operation. A thermostatically controlled room temperature between 75 F to 80 F (24 C to 27 C) degrees with fresh air without drafts is ideal. Room temperatures from 55 F to 90 F (13 C to 32 C) are acceptable but good temperature control in the incubator is obtained when the room temperature is held within a few degrees. The back of the incubator and the right side where the vents are located should be placed no closer to a wall or barrier than 12 inches (30 cm) in order to have free air exchange within the room. Avoid areas of strong sunlight or air ducts that could influence the temperature in the incubator.

It's great I love it and it hasn't stopped since I bought it. I have hatched hundreds of eggs so far. I have welsummers in the hatching tray right now and sunday I had a couple serama chicks hatch. Then I have black copper due to hatch later this month and I have mountain quail eggs coming this week. It's hard to stop I can't stand to see a empty bator! lol
